Microsoft makes Bing the default search in Chrome

Microsoft forces O365 users to use Bing in Chrome

The whole thing is to be implemented in mid-February. The following countries are affected:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • France
  • Germany
  • India
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

Anyone installing or updating Office 365 ProPlus can exclude the Bing app from the outset.

With the parameter:

<Add OfficeClientEdition = "64" Channel = "Monthly">Product ID = ”O365ProPlusRetail”>
<Language ID = "en-us" />
<ExcludeApp ID = ”Bing” />
</ Product>
</ Add>
</ Configuration>

The latest version of the Customization Tool, currently 16.0.12325.20276, should always be used.

In existing installations, this can be implemented via a group policy or by uninstalling the corresponding DefaultPack.

Manual uninstallation:

“C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Microsoft \ DefaultPackMSI \ MainBootStrap.exe” uninstallAll

Group Policy:

Do not install the Microsoft Search in Bing extension that makes Bing the default search engine
